Texas Baseball is now officially on the clock...

So, now that the Cowboys are off the radar, the official countdown for Spring Training starts in Texas.  There is, however, very little Rangers news going on; there really isn't much baseball news to speak of.

Nelson Cruz fans are having to deal with the double insult of Shin-soo Choo's claiming of #17, and reports that the evil Jon Daniels called Cruz's agent to let him know that the Rangers wish him well in his efforts trying to get signed to one of twenty-nine MLB teams.  Of course, one has to wonder if Daniels would sign Cruz for the right price (presumably, not much more than what David Murphy got from Cleveland).  However, at that price most of the teams would be interested, so probably not.

Apparently, the evil Jon Daniels won Choo's heart with a traditional Korean gift and presents for his kids:

Mrs. Choo told Korean media that she was really impressed with the delicacy Jon Daniels showed with the present. JD gave the present for Choo family when he met Scott Boras in LA, 2nd December 2013. The present included Korean red ginseng for Choo, Jerseys with the kids' names inscribed and the other Rangers merchandise for kids. Mrs. Choo took pictures of the kids in the Rangers jersey holding the merchandise on the day Choo brought the present home in Arizona. Two weeks later, the pictures were posted by herself on Choo's fan community in Korea and those pictures even became a post on MLB via LSB. Korean MLB fans joke about this present. If Yankees Cashman added the more touching present for Mrs. Choo to $140/7 offer, she might have prevented Choo from turning down Yankees offer.
The Royals are broke, except that can't possibly be true as we all know, except maybe they probably actually are.  As are the Rockies and a few other clubs.

Angels fans are incredibly* excited about signing Mark Mulder.

*incredibly should be read as 'almost'

Lee Stitzel of NolanWritin' analyzes whether the Rangers have improved this off-season position by position.  Part One is Catcher, 1st Base and 2nd Base.  Part 2 is Shortstop, 3rd Base and Right Field.

AthleticsNation looks at Oakland A's attendance numbers.  Conclusion:  they're probably close to "as good as it gets" considering the Giants have a better stadium and location for casual fans.

LookoutLanding is laying claim to "Surprise Team of 2014" for the Mariners.  This is based on Seattle having been picked to be the "Surprise Team of 2013" by many bloggers and journalists last year, while everyone is laughing at them this year.  LookoutLanding has some good writers, but you can practically smell the fear.

Yasiel Puig was arrested for reckless driving.

And that's about it.
